Savanna Drilling’s coring drilling rigs have been outfitted to exceed the needs of Exploration and Production customers active in Canada. The requirements placed on these core drill rigs is significantly different than that of a conventional drilling program.

Predominantly deployed in northern Alberta, our core drill rigs have been designed to operate with Coring packages. Savanna’s core drill rig set-up helps our customers to retrieve samples of the geology and oil producing zones, ultimately prove reserves and plan commercial production. This is essential in heavy oil deposits and frequently done prior to implementing the Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) used in heavy oil programs commonplace in the Athabasca Oil Sands.
